Longevity Decoded: Food, Connection, and the Art of Rest
We live in an age that glorifies acceleration—faster results, shorter hacks, younger skin in seven days. But real longevity doesn’t live in urgency. It lives in habits, in rhythm. In stillness. In the unspoken pact we make with our future selves: I will care for you. I will invest in you.
My own path to understanding this didn’t begin with research papers or expert panels. It began when I was sick. When I was suffering through inflammation, acne and leaky gut a few years ago. But that’s not what this article is about (there are more of those on this blog if that’s what you are looking for). It’s about the truth that even after healing—and promising ourselves we’ll listen—we often forget to follow through. When we’re not actively suffering but still far from our ideal state of health, most of us don’t know how to pause, or feel we simply don’t have the time.
That was me about 10 days ago. I felt there was something off and that things needed to shift, but I didn’t know what to do. I consider myself a healthy individual—I train, I eat healthy (with some sugar and processed food). I connect with family, friends and community. I feel like I live a truly purposeful life. But I was getting stressed about the small things, and I was not letting myself rest, and I could feel my body suffering. Even though I work in longevity and wellness, sometimes it can be harder to take your own advice.
Sometimes we just need a break and a pause to reconnect…
The Bluecruise: A Floating Laboratory of Longevity
So last week, I stepped onto an icebreaker turned superyacht Bluecruise (learn more here) where time moved in tides. The Caribbean Sea, vast and warm, carried me and a group of seekers and adventurers through what we called an Expedition focused on Longevity and Community —a curated retreat designed by Aleksandra Jovanovic (who is also founder of Powercube) and Tobias Reichmuth (founder Maximon) - our dear friends, guides, partners, entrepreneurs and longevity explorers- on the boat Prometej, devoted to exploring what it truly means to live long and well.
A snapshot of our days: We ate clean, bright foods pulled from the earth and sea prepared by our extraordinary longevity chef Merlin, in partnership with Powercube’s longevity nutritionist Larissa. Each meal curated to encourage healing. We spent time laughing, dancing, and opening our eyes at the vastness of the water and horizon all around us. I faced my fear of boats and pushed through a passed trauma. We swam on empty beaches, moved with intention, and bathed in natural light until the stars reminded us to sleep. There was no rushing, actually you couldn’t rush when you are on a boat for 44 hours travelling in the middle of nowhere. No second-screen living. Just the slow, deliberate stacking of days and nature all around. I even managed to contribute to the Bluecruise community with a curated presentation on "Breaking the Limits of the Mind” one of my favourite subjects around Mindset and Self-Identity Work, something I believe and coach around as it is imperative to understand to reach one’s goals in life.
And when I returned to Geneva, I didn’t want to forget the intensity, the emotion, the pureness, the beauty. I wanted to bring that simplicity, that cellular knowing, into every protocol, every project, every breath.
At Powercube: Engineering Renewal at the Deepest Levels
In my work at Powercube (find us here), as part of the founding team and Head of Wellness and Longevity: we design wellness and biohacking systems not just for performance, but for deep-time living. Longevity for us is not just about life extension—it’s about life expansion. It’s about building a body and mind that feel electric and calm. Sharp and soft. Future-ready, but soul-aligned. That’s what personally drives me!
We blend ancient wisdom with modern technologies:
Red Light Therapy to energize mitochondria, improve skin health, and accelerate tissue repair.
Molecular Hydrogen Therapy for targeted antioxidant support, cellular detox, and anti-inflammatory effects.
Floatation therapy and Breath Protocols and Cryotherapy to build resilience, improve circulation, and reset the nervous system.
These are our Biohacking Suite tools—but they work best when built atop the pillars of true longevity.
My Six Pillars of Long Life (and Deep Living)
Longevity isn’t a product you buy. It’s a rhythm you have to create that’s unique to you. These six practices form my ideal framework that nourishes you from the inside out.
1. Sunlight as Medicine
The morning sun is more than a warm light—it’s information. It sets our circadian clock, regulates hormone production, boosts vitamin D, and elevates our mood. A ten-minute sunbath upon waking is a better investment than any supplement. Spending 48 hours in the sun, my body did a complete 180, I felt so much healthier, happier and more alive after just two days.
2. Circadian Alignment
When we live out of sync with our natural light-dark cycle, our biology becomes confused. Sleep suffers. Hormones dysregulate. Fatigue creeps in. Real longevity means living in time. We need to rise with the light and go to sleep with the dusk. This is nearly impossible in a world full of blue light. Find your way to limit blue light and enhance red light exposure (red light therapy) to improve circadian rhythms. This is key.
3. Movement & Muscular Strength
Longevity is not passive—it’s practiced. Especially through the body. Strength training builds muscle, yes, but more critically: it protects metabolic health, enhances insulin sensitivity, improves collagen synthesis and fortifies bones. Add to that regular, low-intensity movement—walks, stretches, playful motion—and you create a home for vitality.
4. Community and Connection
No one thrives in isolation. Studies from every Blue Zone show that connection—not just kale—is the strongest predictor of a long life. We need touch, laughter, shared meals, a common purpose and someone who remembers our stories, our fears and our dreams.
5. Food as Ritual and Intelligence
Longevity foods aren’t trends. They’re truths, often hiding in plain sight:
Bitter greens for gut health and detoxification (dandelion, arugula, radicchio).
Fish and seafood rich in omega-3s for inflammation support and brain health.
Fermented foods to nourish the microbiome and improve immune resilience.
Legumes and ancient grains for fiber, satiety, and metabolic stability.
Seasonal fruits, vegetables and spices—berries, kiwis, turmeric, garlic, onions, cinnamon—vitamins and minerals that inform the body in ways science is only beginning to understand.
But the secret isn’t the ingredients. It’s how you eat. Slowly. Together. It’s about smaller plates. More plants. I finally stopped rushing through a meal and thinking about things while I ate. I was reminded that its about truly nourishing ourselves with gratitude.
6. Stillness, Sleep, and Sacred Pausing
Recovery is where longevity lives. Eight hours of sleep is actually not indulgent—it’s required repair time for every system in your body. Equally vital: the pause in your day. A walk without your phone. A moment of stillness. The quiet, unmeasurable ways your nervous system exhales. I needed this more than anything else. It’s not that I don’t have a chance to do this at home - its that I always find an excuse or a reason not to, something to do or somewhere to be. Here it was a non-negotiable.
A Philosophy, Not a Formula
At Powercube, we are not chasing youth. We are honoring time. Every therapy we offer is grounded in the idea that the body knows how to heal—if we listen. If we allow.
And for me, the Bluecruise was more than a trip. It was a mirror. It showed me where I need to grow, where I need to shift. A reminder of how life can feel when lived in sync. With nature. With others. With ourselves. Honoring what we need to do to help ourselves grow, and pushing ourselves to make difficult choices when we know we need more.
If you’re reading this and sensing that pull—that quiet desire to live slower, stronger, longer—start simply:
Wake with the sun.
Move with joy.
Eat food that was once alive.
Talk to someone you love.
And give your body permission to rest.
Because the art of longevity is not about denying time. It’s about learning to partner with it.
